写真家、詩人

フィリップ・ブラムは、短期間、農業科学ならびに現代文学を勉強した後、詩は人生を導く糸であると述べ、半年間盲目や精神病の子どもたちのための医療教育機関で指導者として携わった。

この経験が後に「見つめる」という方向性の仕事を生み出すことになる。

彼は19歳でアフリカに向け出発し、秋にはサヘルに関する研究と文献センターの責任者となった。盲目の存在を目の当たりにしたことで、死の存在というものが彼の人生に入ってきた。この短い体験によって、フィリップ・ブラムは記憶をとどめようと試みたのであるーそのカメラと鉛筆を用いて。「目に見えて存在しないものを、存在していて目に見えないものへと通過させる」…ずっとそこにいる世界の外に出る一瞬…

 

フランスに帰国後、ルシアン・エルヴェとの出会い（10年間写真の仕事に付き従った）により、フィリップ・ブラムは存在と行為、存在と不在を調和させる写真というクリエーションへと進むことになる。大嵐の冬だった1999年の冬、彼はアトリエをオーブ県に構えた。この地方は、その森林環境や白亜質の大地、栄光の先達たち、つまりトロワのキリスト教徒、ガストン・バシュラール、カミーユ・クローデル、ジャン・グロジャン…などによって、彼に深く刻印を残すことになる。

 

フィリップ・ブラムは、10歳で詩を手帳に書き始めて以来、書くのを中断したことがない。彼の写真作品ならびに詩は定期的にフランス国内、及び国際的にもお披露目されている。彼は写真そして詩作について講義を行ったり、指導している（メキシコのペドロ・メジェル財団、東京のエスパスKIU、オランとトレムセンのフランス芸術院、フランスの大学など）。彼はまた、公立の中学校や高校での講義、同様にオーブ県トゥルヌフー協会の芸術アドバイザーとしても関わっている。

2020年5月31日、彼は「ホタルの解放前線」を設立。この団体は若手の芸術家たちが、芸術への

道のりを辿る第一歩として、実践で活躍している人の元で研修できるよう支援している。

After brief studies in agronomic sciences and modern literature, Philippe Brame, who describes poetry as “the guiding thread of his life,” spent six months working as an educator in a medical-educational institute for blind and psychotic children. From this experience arose a lifelong artistic inquiry into the meaning of vision itself.

 

At the age of nineteen, he left for Africa and, during an autumn season, became head of a research and documentation center devoted to the Sahel. After confronting blindness, it was the presence of death that entered his life. These short yet intense experiences inspired him to preserve memory―through his camera and his pen. “To pass from things we see and which are not, to those which are and which we do not see…”

Outside the world for an instant, and yet still within it.

 

Back in France, his encounter with Lucien Hervé―who followed his photographic work for ten years―guided him toward a form of creation that reconciles being and doing, presence and absence.

In the winter of 1999, the year of the great storm, he set up his studio in the Aube region of France. This land left a deep impression on him―with its forests, its chalky soil, and its illustrious predecessors: Chrétien de Troyes, Gaston Bachelard, Camille Claudel, and Jean Grosjean.

 

Philippe Brame has never stopped writing his poetic notebooks, begun at the age of ten. His photographic and poetic works are regularly exhibited in France and abroad. He also gives lectures and leads workshops on photography and poetry―at institutions such as the Pedro Meyer Foundation in Mexico, Espace KIU in Tokyo, the French Institutes of Oran and Tlemcen, and various French universities.

He teaches in public middle and high schools as well, and serves as an artistic advisor for the Tournefou Association in the Aube region.

 

On May 31, 2020, he founded the Firefly Liberation Front, a collective that supports young artists in taking their first steps along the path of awakening―learning the art of creation through shared experience and itinerant practice.
